Lately i've fallen away from music. I've kind of stopped looking. It's not that I don't listen to music but It's very rare that a band gets to me in that "special way" and it's sad but the last band that did that to me was Brand New. (until recently) And not even their last album. It was The Devil and God. I don't know if it was because it came out at a VERY significant time in my life, or because its incredible. I can't even listen to that album without it shooting me back to 2007 and I know most of my friends feel the same way. As soon as any of us hear "Sowing Season" we are all instantly back at Victoria St. having the best time...or the worst. I will never forget that year, it was such a crazy transition for all of us. As George Costanza would say, our worlds collided. I met some of my best friends who I don't know what I would do without and said goodbye to some that I don't know why I kept around in the first place. The Devil and God was the soundtrack to our lives. I guess maybe thats why it was so significant and SO hard to top. Since then one of the only "bands" that has gotten to me is LISTENER. I put band in quotations because it consists of 2 guys, one of whom rants - kind of spoken word style and spazzes out on stage while the other bangs on a washing machine or plays an instrument. Dennis played with them last year sometime and I very regrettably didn't go. I didn't know who they were at the time. He came home and showed them to me and I was instantly bummed that I missed it. Their performance and lyrics and everything about them is very heartfelt and emotional. I'm sure most of you have heard them already but if you haven't give them a listen. (no pun intended)
I also took some pictures of Dennis a while ago so I thought I would post them. Dennis's music also gets to me but I didn't want to write it because it's cheesy and lame etc. because he is my boyfriend but it's true and I would feel bad if I didn't include him in that category...
